Sarah Hauser was born and raised in North Platte, Nebraska and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where she received a Bachelor's degree with a triple major in Art, Secondary Education, and Women's Studies. She moved to Dallas in 1997 and taught high school art in the Dallas Independent School District for five years, including two years of photography, before returning to Graduate School. She is currently attending Texas Woman's University in Denton to receive a Master of Arts Degree in Graphic Design with a minor in Photography. Hauser has been the art curator at the Art Bar in Deep Ellum for the past two years and is currently an apprentice at the Bath House Cultural Center on White Rock Lake. Hauser has been taking photographs since the age of 11 when she learned to develop prints in a black and white darkroom during a summer camp. She has chosen photography as her medium of choice since then. Regarding her art she states, "I've been working towards being more emotionally expressive in my work, doing more experimentation, and pushing myself to be more abstract and symbolic." Hauser has traveled to Mexico, Japan, Europe, and throughout the United States taking pictures. Besides travel photography (landscapes/nature/architecture), she has a wide variety of photography interests. She has experience taking slides and digital pictures for artist portfolios; she has taken photographs of interiors and food dishes for restaurants which were featured in a magazine, on a postcard, and in a training manual; she has taken photographs for several local bands, done portraits, and taken pictures of children; and she has taken photographs at several different types of events, including her 10 year high school reunion. |
